Arrive at the Sahara Desert Camp before nightfall, settle into your private tent, and savor a traditional dinner. Spend the night stargazing or dancing to the rhythmic beats of desert drums. Wake up early to witness the first rays of sunlight over the desert. Enjoy breakfast at the camp and then ride your camel back to Zagora. On the return journey through the Draa Valley towards Marrakech, make a stop in Ouarzazate for lunch and sightseeing. Explore the Kasbah Taourirt or visit the movie museum in this renowned “Hollywood of Morocco,” home to international film productions.Finally, head back to Marrakech, traversing the Atlas Mountains, and arrive at your hotel or riad, concluding the trip.
This memorable trip starts with the scenic drive from Marrakech over the Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2’260 m), where you can spot the traditional Berber villages with its inhabitants working and chatting at the roadside. Shortly before the desert capital Ouarzazate, you have the opportunity to visit the famous Kasbah Aït-Ben-Haddou, the fortified clay city with its numerous ksars and kasbahs, where several famous movies such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven and Prince of Persia have been shot.
After crossing the Anti-Atlas, you arrive at the green and peaceful Draa Valley which is famous for its huge date groves and henna fields.
Now it is time for the desert! Zagora is the last city before the real wilderness starts. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your camel driver and head to the desert on top of your friendly camel while the sun sinks below the horizon. Just before dark, you will arrive at the Sahara Desert Camp where you can settle in your private tent. A traditional dinner is served and you can spend the night watching for shooting stars or dance around the camp fire to the beat of the desert drums.
Today, you can get up early to enjoy the first rays of sunlight over the desert. Enjoy your breakfast in the camp and hop on your camel for the ride back to Zagora.
On our way back through the Draa Valley in direction Marrakech we’ll stop in Ouarzazate for lunch andsightseeing in the Kasbah Taourirt or in the movie museum. The city of Ouarzazate with its film making studios hosts a lot of international film productions and is also known as «Hollywood of Morocco».
Afterwards, we’re heading back to Marrakech and your Hotel/Riad over the Atlas Mountains.
