Take a Day Trip to Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate, which are well worth a visit. Come and experience a different standard of sightseeing, a luxury experience away from the masses.
Start your day trip to Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou via Telouet at 07:00, with a pick-up from your Marrakech accommodation. as you start to go up at the beginning of the mountain chain, you start to notice a couple of Berber villages perched in the mountains in an astonishing camouflage making them one with nature. villagers are usually self-sufficient, they rely on agriculture and livestock, and maybe sell a sheep or a goat at the weekly market to buy tea, sugar, clothes and pay the electricity bills. And we will get a chance to stop a take some photographs of the elevated scenery before making our way to the Kasbah at Ait Ben Haddou. The day trip to Ouarzazate from Marrakech takes around 4 hours each way. The first little stop at one of the many terraces to stretch your legs and maybe grab a cup of coffee to fully wake up, then continue the road to the second stop at Tizi-N-Tichka Pass (2160m), before we reach the ancient village of Ait Benhaddou. Here you can climb to the ruins of the fortified granary with stunning views at the surrounding landscape and take a short walk along the river and in the village. Afterward, we continue to Ouarzazate the gate to the desert and the center of Sahara desert Tourism in the south, where we will visit the Taourirt Kasbah and its spectacular building that offers you the chance to see inside a real ancient Kasbah and see the Moroccan architecture. The entrance fee costs 2 euros or 20 dirhams per person. Our day tour continues to the second attraction in Ouarzazate is the cinematographic arts museum (The Hollywood of Africa), situated just in front of the previous Kasbah, which is a massive collection of tools, costumes, cameras, VFX technics and chambers used in the filming of movies. The entrance fee to the museum is 30dh per person, and it is also possible to take a local guide to explain the site. After the museum, we will head back to the entrance of the city, where the Atlas Studio site lays, this is where actual film making happens, but the museum is more interesting because the studio is usually empty outside shooting times, and forbidden during the shooting. In the late afternoon, we will then make our way back to Marrakech, and your full- day trip to Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate will end with a drop off at your accommodation around 20:30 pm.
